Toms, Helping children in need

This week, I had to prepare the presentation for Business class.  It has to be related with what I learned in class. I choosed corporative philanthropy as a main topic. Corporative philanthropy is “all business donations to nonprofit groups, including money, products, and employee time.” I was looking for the appropriate example of corporative philanthropy. I thought Toms was the best example and looked into Toms’ homepage. Toms has slogan, “One for one.” If customer buys a pair of shoes, Toms give a new pair of shoes to children in need. In 2006, American traveler Blake Mycoskie befriended children in Argentina and found they had no shoes to protect their feet. Wanting to help, he created TOMS Shoes, a company that would match every pair of shoes purchased with a pair of new shoes given to a child in need. One for One. Blake returned to Argentina with a group of family, friends and staff later that year with 10,000 pairs of shoes made possible by TOMS customers. Fortunately, Toms is known for good quality and style. Therefore buying a pair of Toms’ shoes not only satisfy customers but also help others.
